The level 5 project aimed to revitalise a large tenancy in One International Towers, Barangaroo, Sydney. The design features a warm, sunrise- inspired palette, creating a vibrant workplace with modern communal amenities. The project comprises a 1200sqm speculative suite and two repurposed lift core zones as communal amenities. Alkimi studio’s proposal led to the selection of a Wellness Space and Innovation Studio. The Wellness Studio offers a tranquil retreat with mirrored panels for natural light, concealed by sliding panels when needed. It features natural materials like cork, timber, and rattan, suitable for yoga, workshops, or quiet reflection. An adjoining hydration point is available.

The Innovation Space promotes creativity with reconfigurable meeting tables, video conferencing, and collaborative settings. Its vibrant colors and warm timber elements suit various meeting types and brainstorming sessions. Drop-in booths connect these amenities, providing quiet spaces for one-on-one meetings or reflection.

The main tenancy, previously uninspiring, was reimagined with a focus on clever planning and reuse. The speculative suite balances dense work areas with collaborative and social spaces. Existing meeting and training rooms were updated, while the entry area was redesigned to include a concierge, various meeting spaces, and a 16-person boardroom. Rich materials and a mirror ceiling enhance the welcome area. Tiered seating connects the front of house to a versatile social breakout area. Alkimi studio collaborated closely with DBS engineers throughout the project, enhancing the workplace experience with dynamic lighting, strategic power and connectivity, and integrated service and architectural elements.
