/ A CLIMATE-INNOVATION HUB DESIGNED FOR CONNECTION AND GROWTH /
The new business innovation space known as ‘Greenhouse Tech Hub’, is located at 180 George Street in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. The City of Sydney sought to offer a physical co-working space for climate technology innovation and aligned businesses. Leading the way in shared workspace design, Greenhouse presents a climate focused environment conceived over three levels and connected by a large central stair. The planning provides for a variety of shared work options, and includes office, open work areas, breakout areas, an event space, a central hub communal kitchen and amenities. The space boasts expansive ceiling heights, light-flooded floorplates, and prime city views.
The design concept, NEXUS, reflects a woven tapestry of like-minded innovators. Greenhouse serves to centrally connect the entities to provide an offering to future-proof the country’s tech ecosystem whilst supporting local businesses. The powerful purpose of the Tech Hub is narrated within the physical space through the sentiment, ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’. The design translates intertwining networks, support frameworks and community bonds into unity through repetition, balance of tech and nature, and contrasting cool and warm features. A neutral yet dynamic materials palette inspired by earth and ocean allowed for the vibrancy of abundant planting to sing. Sustainable and responsible material choices are made, aligning with the essence of the climate hub.
Storytelling through education is an important aspect of community engagement, the fit out support this notion with opportunities throughout the three floors for Greenhouse, and its tenants to contribute to the narrative of the collective through art and graphics.
